About Us
Cause 4 Cats, Inc. was incorporated as a California non-profit in September 2004. Cause 4 Cats founders, Russ and Lolette Robrahn, have been dedicated to care and rescue of cats for over thirty-five years.
Up until 2001, they personally maintained a sizeable cat family. That year Russ, a disabled vet, discovered a small feral cat family on the grounds of the Sepulveda VA hospital in North Hills. While feeding them one evening, he met a retired nurse who had been feeding cats at about a dozen different locations on the hospital campus for a decade. Arrangements were made to provide her assistance by splitting up the feeding schedule and doing TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release). When kittens were trapped, Robrahns brought them home to tame them. Unable to keep the kittens due to sheer numbers, the Robrahns reached out to other groups who were better prepared to do adoptions for kittens that were trapped and subsequently tamed.
In 2004 they established Cause 4 Cats, Inc. (C4C) to give greater assistance to stray and feral cats in their local community. In 2006 it was approved by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) as a tax-exempt non-profit which allow them to accept donations to help pay for vet bills, food and supplies for cats in foster care.
