Little Lilly managed to get over the wall, or perhaps under the side fence, into the backyard of one of our volunteers. Presumably, she followed one of many community cats to the food source.
When it came to catching Lily, though, she showed NO interest in food at all when in a trap set out to catch her. After a few days and nights of trying to use food to entice wily Lily into the trap, our volunteer got a better idea. She had noticed how Lily was attracted to things she could play with. So the inside of the trap was decked out with all kinds of little hanging objects that would move, shine and flutter to catch the attention of a playful kitten. Well, 30 minutes later, little Lily was in the trap and then moved inside to a large crate. There she was safe, comfortable, had plenty of food and water, lots of room and plenty of toys to keep her interested.
Lily has become a very sweet kitty who likes to play with people, too. She is a little shy with strangers, but once she gets to know someone, they are a welcome new playmate.
